Vista delle Montagne is a beautifully restored old farm outbuilding, now fully
modernized. The location in southern Tuscany (near
the border of Umbria), is perfect for exploring Montalcino (famous for its Brunello
wines) and the fascinating medieval cities of Montepulciano, Siena, Arezzo, Cortona,
Perugia, Assisi, and Orvieto. All of the enchanting towns of southern Tuscany
are within daytrip distance, as well as Umbria and Lazio. On days when you do
not wish to drive, you can travel by rail from nearby Chiusi to Florence (1.5
hours north) or to Rome (1 hour south). Massages and a variety of beauty
treatments can be found just minutes away at Fonteverde Spa, recently named best
spa in Italy by Spa Finders Readers' Choice. The lovely village of San Casciano
dei Bagni is just 4 km away, with a full range of shops. Enjoy your morning cappuccino
at one of our favorite coffee bars, or dine at a local restaurant after
passing the afternoon by the pool. This is a beautiful region, still relatively
undiscovered by tourists.
Vista delle Montagne is set on a hill, with lovely panoramic
views. The house is spacious, bright, and cheerful. Enter into a living room with
comfortable seating, a fireplace, and satellite TV. A separate dining room opens
onto the garden. The large eat-in kichen is outfitted with a dishwasher. From
the kitchen, a short corridor leads to a bathroom with a shower and washing machine,
and a storage room.
On the second floor are four bedrooms. Two have
double beds and en-suite baths (one with a tub and hand-held shower and the other
with a shower). The other bedrooms have twin beds and share a bathroom with shower. At the back of the house, with a separate entrance, live the caretakers.
A separate cottage can accommodate up to six additional guests. The cottage has a living area with kitchen and satellite TV, two bedrooms (a double and a twin), each with private bath, and a small sitting room with a double sofabed. The cottage is either rented with the villa or left unoccupied. It will not be rented to a separate party.
We think Vista delle Montagne is a great house for families. Outdoors is a pool (far enough from the house
not to pose a danger for small children) and a pergola for al fresco dining or
just to admire the spectacular view of the mountains. The delightful English-speaking owner lives nearby. She studied architectural history and is available to take guests on informal tours of Siena, Pienza, or Montepulciano.
