Villa Loredana is a superb property in the wonderful rolling
hills of Tuscany located 20 km (13 miles) south of Florence 3 km from San Casciano,
which is the first exit from the autostrada that runs between Florence and Siena.
San Casciano Val di Pesa is a medieval walled town, where you will find two great
restaurants, a wonderful bakery, produce shops, and a wonderful butcher. You can
park in San Casciano and travel by bus to Florence in 30 minutes. Florence (22
km), Siena and San Gimignano (40 km) are within easy daytrip distance, as well
as many lovely hill towns, each with its own unique flavor. The small village
of Cerbaia is within walking distance of Villa Loredana.
Two
stone buildings from the 14th century are located on the property. One has been
beautifully restored as an exceptional country villa with every modern convenience,
complemented by ancient décor typical of Tuscany. The "white road" leading to
the villa is a rough and unmade track which is typical of Tuscany. Fortunately,
the track is not too long. The other stone building was a barn and has been converted
into a second home in which the owners reside for part of the year. The villa
and stone barn are surrounded by a garden with a large in-ground swimming pool
(18x8 meters) that has a diving board. There are also 7 acres of fenced land inviting
guests to country walks in the hills. Under an archway is a glass table perfect
for dining al fresco. The villa, with a large furnished terracotta patio, has
been on the cover of one magazine and featured in an Italian equivalent of House
Beautiful in an article about the most beautiful kitchens in Tuscany.
The first floor rooms surround the arched outdoor dining
area with no separation from each other, giving a spacious and open welcome. The
large country eat-in kitchen has a fireplace and is outfitted with a dishwasher
and microwave. There is a full bathroom with shower on this level, as well as
laundry room, studio, dining room, and living room with fireplace, TV, and sleep
sofa for two.
Upstairs are five
bedrooms (two with large matrimoniale beds and three with twin beds), two full
bathrooms, and a billiard room.
