Sicily is a fascinating island — distinctly Italian, but at the same time a world unto itself. A history of rule by a succession of Mediterranean
powers has left the Sicilian people with a unique cultural thumbprint-characterized
by an openness to foreigners, a wonderfully eclectic cuisine and a richly varied
architectural heritage.
Villa Antonella is set in the countryside just five kilometers from the pleasant town of Floridia, where you will find all of the necessary conveniences. The beach is just a few minutes away, and another coastal attraction is Siracusa, a captivating city of Greek origin, with a charming old town and port area. Visit the Parco Archeologico, just outside of town, where you will find an impressive array of ruins, including a stunning Greek theater where ancient plays are still presented. Head south to Noto, a charming city with many baroque churches and palazzi, or drive north to Mount Etna and the beautiful neighboring town of Taormina. Villa Casale, a short drive west from Floridia, has an extraordinary collection of Roman mosaics, and the magnificent Valley of the Temples at Agrigento is just a little over an hour away.
