Most of Rome's major attractions are within walking distance of the delightful
San Clemente Apartment. The Colosseum is within sight, and a 10-minute walk brings
you to the Forum or the Arch of Constantine. The Campo dei Fiori, Pantheon, Piazza
Navona, and Spanish Steps are just 20-40 minutes (or a short bus ride) away. Bus
and subway stops are conveniently located near the San Clemente. This attractive
apartment is located in the heart of a real Roman neighborhood. During the day,
the streets bustle with grocery stores, open-air produce stands, butchers, and
pastry shops. At night, this dynamic neighborhood comes alive with many charming
wine bars and cafes; on summer evenings, jazz concerts are held in the nearby
Villa Celimontana. To reach the apartment, you must climb up about 30 steps
to the second floor. An entry hall leads to the living/dining room. The kitchen
is equipped with a microwave and clothes washer (but no dishwasher). A door leads
from the kitchen to the terrace, where a table and chairs seats six comfortably.
This comfortable, air-conditioned apartment has three bedrooms. One has
a matrimonial bed with en suite bath. A second bedroom with a low ceiling (about
6 ft.) has a matrimonial bed (divisible on request) plus two single beds under
the eaves, as well as a study/den and a bathroom. The third bedroom is located
off of the terrace and is small but private, with a bath en suite. All of the
bedrooms and the living room have TV; all of the bathrooms have American-style
shower stalls (no tubs). One of the nicest features of the San Clemente flat is
that its three bedrooms are separate and independent, making this an excellent
choice for three couples traveling together as well as for a family. The
charming owners of the San Clemente Apartment have lived in the neighborhood all
their lives and are welcoming and helpful. The owner's wife is willing, with advance
notice, to prepare homemade tarts and sweets, or even a home-cooked Roman meal.
