Villa Degas is perfectly located to tour Aix-en-Provence, home of Paul Cézanne (15 min.), Arles (30 min.) or Avignon (1 hour)
to the north or the beaches 25 km (15 miles) to the south. Marseille-Provence is
the closest airport (15 km or 10 mi.), or catch the fast train (TGV) from Paris
to Aix-en-Provence (about 3 hours).
Colors throughout are
bright and cheerful with white walls, red tiled floors and yellow leather sofas.
All rooms are sunny from the ample windows giving the whole villa an airy, cheery
and happy aspect. The living room has large French doors opening onto the patio
and pool. When the doors are open, the patio, with its retractable awning, becomes
an extension of the living room. Inside are leather sofas, TV with satellite,
telephone, and fireplace. Outside are dining table for six, BBQ (gas grill), ample
lawn furniture and a lovely pergola perfect for dining en plein air.
The
kitchen would be a pleasure to work in, especially at the sink, where one can
gaze out the window at flowers while washing up (or maybe you prefer to use the
dishwasher). There is also an electric wall oven, microwave, freezer, refrigerator,
4-burner gas stove, and coffee maker. Nearby is the utility room with washer and
dryer. Down the hall are the three bedrooms.
The master bedroom (16
sq. m) has doors opening onto the pool and patio and has a bathroom en suite with
a tub with hand shower, toilet and sink. The bed can be a king or twin beds with
automatic foot and head lift. The other two bedrooms share a bathroom that has
a shower, double sink and bidet and a separate room with the WC. One bedroom has
a double bed. The other bedroom is 11.5 square meters with a double bed.
A new studio has recently been added. The ground floor is 35 square meters, with a sleeping loft of 10 square meters. There is a living room with sofabed and TV, a bathroom with shower, and a kitchen with dishwasher, microwave and washing machine.
Enter
the garden (1200 sq. m) through a gate and find a lovely, comfortable and very
private property with a 5 x 10 meter private swimming pool (open all year). There
are patios, pergola and lawn furniture all inviting the guest to enjoy the outdoor
life of sunny Provence.
Nearby is the tennis court, reserved for the
immediate community, just about a minute's walk away. One hour per day of court
time is included. A walking path next to the villa leads to a shopping area in
five minutes. Here are services including grocery store, bakery, and bank.
